Keyloggers: How they work and how to detect them (Part 1)

Kaspersky Lab has published the first part of the article on keyloggers, written by Nikolay Grebennikov, Deputy Director of the company's Research and Development team. It represents an overview of how keyloggers function and propagate, also detailing the main techniques used by virus writers to create keyloggers, and how such programs are increasingly using rootkits to hide within an infected system.

Examples of the significant losses caused by keyloggers are also highlighted in the report, together with advice on how users and organisations can protect themselves from the malware.
